Hailey Bieber used her latest interview as an opportunity to point out how toxic the media coverage about her can be.
While speaking to WSJ magazine to promote her forthcoming skincare line, the model explained that there are some topics that she has deemed off-limits in interviews, such as her marriage to pop star Justin Bieber and their personal life. “It doesn’t feel worth it to me anymore when I try to have an open conversation with someone like you and then it gets taken out of context,” she says, adding that she’s told her team that she will no longer be doing interviews focused on those topics in the coming year. “The media loves to take a tiny little blurb of something for clickbait. The media has always been a disgusting thing.”
But despite being unwilling to address those topics, she still offered the outlet a few insights into her relationship. She explained that, “Behind closed doors, we’re two really normal people that just have not-normal lifestyles and careers. I think given the magnitude of Justin’s career, he’s a very normal person, and I don’t think that always happens.” Hailey added that their marriage works because they feed off of one another and introduce each other to new things. “When it comes to style and taste in music, there is a lot of similar taste there but there is also a lot of opposite…which I think is cool, because then you get to show each other new things that maybe we wouldn’t have heard before,” the model said. “I don’t think you can be the exact same as your partner…I would not want to be with the exact male version of me.”
With Justin’s tour starting next month and all of the projects going on in her own life, she also said that they’ve put starting a family on the back burner. “I think ideally in the next couple of years we would try. But there’s a reason they call it try, right? You don’t know how long that process is ever going to take. Definitely no kids this year; that would be a little bit hectic, I think,” Hailey revealed. “There’s this thing that happens for women when you get married. Everybody always assumes it’s: First comes love, then comes marriage, then comes the baby. Well, what about all the things I want to accomplish in my business? I think I had it ingrained in my head that I was going to want to have kids right away and I was going to want to have kids super, super young. Then I turned 25 and I’m like, I’m still super, super young!”
